Galileo AI Salary Benchmarks - Australia
Validated against advertised AU AI roles ยท updated July 2026
24,024 benchmark data points across 79 tracked AI roles (77 public role pages), 7 seniority levels from Graduate to Senior Manager, 6 Australian cities, 7 company-size bands and both permanent and contract employment. Each data point is a benchmarked figure for one role, seniority, city, company-size and employment-type combination.
We continuously track advertised Australian AI roles across the major job boards and employer career pages. Because roughly 9 in 10 Australian AI job ads do not publish a salary, advertised figures alone cannot describe the market; live tracking tells us demand, titles and hiring patterns, while placement data and market research anchor the dollar figures.
Anchors are re-validated every quarter against current advertised roles, completed placements and market research. The static figures on these pages are regenerated from the database on each quarterly validation, so a published median is never more than one quarter old.
Ranges are modelled, not observed percentiles. Company-size and city adjustments are multiplicative factors, not independently sampled markets. Advertised-role tracking skews towards publicly posted positions; confidential executive searches are represented through placement data and market research instead. Treat every figure as a benchmark for negotiation and planning, not a guarantee.
Every figure starts from the observed market median for the role and seniority, benchmarked in Sydney at a large employer. Anchors come from our market research, live tracking of advertised Australian AI roles, and validated placement data, refreshed quarterly.
The low and high bounds are modelled at roughly 15% either side of the anchor to show a typical spread. They are not observed percentiles, so we do not label them that way. Hot roles can clear the high bound.
The same title pays differently at a major bank than at a 40-person startup, so our figures adjust across seven company-size bands, from startup to APRA-regulated. Pick the employer type on the card and every figure updates. A city factor applies the same way across six locations.
Base is the annual salary excluding superannuation. Package adds 12% super. Contract is the equivalent daily rate for comparable scope, assuming around 220 billable days a year.
